Anyone who is familiar with Microsoft Dynamics NAV will know that when it comes to managing permissions, it can almost be a full time job during the initial implementation of your system. Unless your using the “out-of-the-box” permission sets provided by Microsoft, the creation of new permission sets and adding all the associated tables and permission levels is a painfully laborious process.
With the recent release of NAV 2016, Microsoft have introduced a new feature, with little little to no fanfare, which provides the ability to record a process in NAV and assign the appropriate permissions related to that process to a nominated permission set. It’s such a small addition but the time saving that this provides is huge.
I’ve made a short video, which can be seen below, that shows the functionality being used to record the permissions associated with creating a purchase order.
